OUR STORIED HISTORY...

1924
A group consisting of both Youth & Adults met for the first time at Ottawa Street Methodist Church (corner of Ottawa & Moy), who was registered as the initial Sponsor/Partner. This was the beginning of the 13th Windsor, Charter #501 with The Boys Scouts of Canada.
1927
Windsor-Walkerville Technical School became the registered Sponsor/Partner.
1932
The Scout Troop moved to Christ Lutheran Church Mission on St. Luke Road. This was a creation of
St. George's Anglican Church (Albert Road, north of Seminole), who was registered as the Sponsor/Partner.
1935
A group of citizens is registered as the Sponsor/Partner.
1936
The meetings were now held in a vacant store on Drouillard Road.
1939
The Group moves to Trinity United Church on Tourangeau.
1940
Wolf Cub Pack opens.
1943
Trinity United Church is registered as the Sponsor/Parter.
1950
Rover Crew Opens.
1967
Venturer Crew opens.
1976
Beaver Colony opens.
1982
The Group celebrated their 50th anniversary (there were no records found at the time to support the inception of the first eight years. A 50th Commemorative Crest was designed to celebrate this milestone.
1999
A contest was held to design a new crest to replace the simple number design that was being phased out by Boys Scouts of Canada. The winning crest design was proudly worn by all members of the 13th. Troop Scouter Paul Ullman was the designer. He played upon the unlucky number 13 to form a lucky horseshoe.
2004
The Group crest was reworked to reflect the year the Group was established.
2007
Due to declining membership, Trinity United Church clustered with Roseland United Church.
2009
An anniversary crest was created to be worn by only registered members of this year.
2010
February 1st, Trinity United Church was sold. The Group finds a new home with the A.K.O. Fraternity, located at the corner of Bernard & Alice. In April, the Group celebrated 85 years of Service to the Community (records have been found to validate this). In September, the A.K.O. Fraternity becomes the new Sponsor/Partner.

What Scouting Means To ME

"Scouting is the perfect medium for building character in today's youth.
Scouting allows a young man to develop self-confidence, while teaching him
resepct for others, and himself. No other venue allows a young man to challenge
himself in ways that allow his development to prosper positively.

Carl Goodwin, 13th. Group Secretary
.

If you would like your story here, then please go
